Work and Research

As experimental scientist, I successfully intersected the use of green chemistry, engineering, material-science and raw-material beneficiation, to sustainably produce usable renewable bio-products (CV: see papers 1,5,13,16,) with under-utilized plant-animal precursors from tropical-Africa, and further develop with the products desired solution-applications that cut across energy, corrosion-control, wastewater-treatment, machines-lubrication and environment. I made major contribution in my research-field in Nigeria, by developing simple techniques for bio-coagulants, bio-adsorbents and bio-membranes production (CV:see papers 47,100 ); and further successfully operated innovatively in-house-designed, scalable water treatment units, with potential of producing clean drinking-water for the 216,800 residents of Anambra-East Local Government Area, Nigeria. I developed from local underutilized seeds-nuts, novel low-cost synthesis-route for multi-purpose bio-oil that had been successfully modified into usable bio-diesel, bio-transformer fluid, and bio-lube stock. These achievements were sponsored by grants from Fulbright-(IIE-LASPAU-68140588), INSA JRD TATA-CLRI 2012 and IFS-(12-W- 6667-1); etc. I trained 17 graduate students in capacity-building on water treatment and raw-materials processing technologies, many of whom had benefited from my partnerships with Profs Ganesan Sekaran & Venki Uddameri of CLRI-India & LU-USA.. Currently, my research team at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) is developing a multifunctional sensing technique for environmental impact assessment to monitor the effect of climate change, as well as development of mitigation strategies. Our preliminary results anticipate a model for highly-dense African communities, such as Lagos-Nigeria, Nairobi- Kenya, Cape Town-RSA, etc. I lead $50,000-TETFUND-research (TETF/ES/DR&D-CE/NRF/2021/SETI/SAE/00118/VOL.1) for the production of novel diapers-products for millions of aged, infants and the sick in Nigeria. I published over 130 articles, plus international scientific lectures. I received several awards and recognitions, namely: INSA-Fellowship(2012); Fulbright-Fellowship(2014); Top 500 Nigerian researchers (2019, 2022) & 2022 Global no 5 for Topic 5388:Coagulants; Moringa Oleifera; Wastewater-Treatment (Elsevier ranked); UNIZIK recognition as outstanding researcher(2021) etc (Pg.9 CV).
