Bio

Kayleigh Marcus completed her MSc in Livestock Production at the University of Pretoria. With a keen interest in smallholder production practices, her dissertation focused on the production and management systems of smallholder pig farmers of the North West province in South Africa. She is currently working on various projects at Future Africa, including the Climate, Land, Agriculture, and Biodiversity (CLAB-Africa) project for the ARUA Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Food Systems (ARUA-SFS). Driven by a passion for community development, Kayleigh hopes to place a strong emphasis on women's empowerment within the agricultural sector. Additionally, Kayleigh’s research interests delve into the realm of One Health, recognising the interconnectedness between human, animal, and environmental health. Her work advocates for holistic approaches to livestock production that prioritise the well-being of both animals and farmers while considering the broader ecosystem. With a well-rounded dedication to research, community, and nature, Kayleigh is eager to make lasting contributions to the field of livestock production and beyond.
